In aid of Proposed Cancer Treatment Centre

Around Sri Lanka in 12 days

In celebration of the Trinity Scouts Centenery (2014)

The Trinity College Scout Group celebrates 100 years of scouting and service to the community in 2014. To celebrate this momentous milestone the Scouts have organized a series of events focusing on community service. To commemerate celebrations, the master of the Scout Group Mr. Ravindra Tammita proposed a bicycle tour “Around Sri Lanka in 12 days,” (along the costal belt) aiming at creating awareness on cancer and raising funds for the proposed Cancer Hospital in Kandy. The funds raised through donations and sponsorship will be donated to the Cancer Hospital and to patients afflicted with cancer towards their medication and basic requirements. The idea was put forth to Mr. Mohan Samarakoon (President of the proposed Cancer Hospital and a past pupil of Trinity College ) who obliged to help in all ways possible incluing the provison of a bus (that is generally used for creating awareness and raising funds for the Cancer Hospital) as a support vehicle along with a team of voulnteers. The 12 day bicycle tour hit a head start on the 7th of December at the Trinity College Hall. 36 children between ages 11 to 19 years cycled around the island, along the coastal belt from the 7th to 18th December 2013 winding up at Trinity College on the last day.
